About CIGRE

One of the world's largest knowledge networksCIGRE - which stands for Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques (International Council for Large Electric Systems) - is one of the world's largest knowledge networks in the field of high-voltage power transmission, representing the interests of over 80 countries. In the Netherlands, a wide range of companies, organisations and research institutes have joined forces in a CIGRE National Committee to exchange knowledge and share experiences in the field of power transmission. A number of study committees and working groups are active within CIGRE, contributing to international debates and developments in the field of power transmission and legislation.

 

CIGRE5CIGRE NetherlandsCIGRE Netherlands currently has approx. 250 members and secretarial duties have been handled by electricity Transmission System Operator TenneT since 2010. Several study committees and working groups are active within CIGRE, covering a wide range of topics including technological developments, HVDC connections, diagnostics, design and economic aspects of energy systems, the regulatory regime, market integration, the environment and social issues.

 

CIGRE aims to make an active contribution towards further development and innovation in the field of high-voltage power transmission.
